Hallo Gerhard,
"I just had a question in Support as to how to change Starry Night to
accurately reflect the current brightness of Comet Holmes (17P). The
orbital elements in Starry Night are the "official" ones from Lowell
Observatory, and don't yet show the eruption of the comet.
Right-click (Control-click on Mac) on Comet Holmes to get the
contextual menu, and choose "Edit Orbital Elements". Click on the
"Other Settings" tab, and change "Absolute Magnitude" from 10.0 to
-4.3. Close the window and you should be all set. This is based on
my personal observation of the comet at magnitude 2.6 on 2007 October
25 10:45 UT, which seems in good agreement with other observers."
Bernd
