Dieses Jahr geht der Physik-Nobelpreis an Francis Halzen, die treibende Kraft hinter dem IceCube Neutrino Observatory am Südpol.

In 2026, Francis Halzen, the principal investigator of the project, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics "for decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos of astrophysical origin."

Announcement of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics

The IceCube Neutrino Observatory (or simply IceCube) is a neutrino observatory developed by the University of Wisconsin–Madison and constructed at the Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station in Antarctica.
