IOPTRON:
Sorry for lat reply and thanks for the information.
1. V210105 won’t keep the alignment data. So it needs be upgraded to V210420 if one intends to align and GOTO using the hand controller
2. Alignment: the alignment error in the hand controller will stay locally. Use a software to control the mount needs performing the alignment by that software. Have you tried GOTO using hand controller after alignment?
3. If a level would like to performed, the tripod top should be leveled first. Then the altitude reading checking will be meaningful.
ICH:
1) Firmware: as written I also tried the new version from last October: V210422 / V210420.
2) Alignment: I have tried goto AFTER performing a successful 2 or 3 star alignment only using the hand controller - the result will always be a miss of the target star I have chosen for GOTO. The offset is the same like before the alignment. I have not tried one star alignment yet. But 2 or 3 star wont improve the goto accuracy.
3) the tripod was leveled first (using a long bubble level). Still the altitude reading is 3-4° off. I have the same result when doing the polar align with a perfectly leveled tripod. For my position 48° would be correct. I end up with something close to 53°.

Looks like your system was with incorrect/inaccurate zero position set.
Please goto a bright star, perform Sync to target, goto zero position, set zero position. From there your mount should have a correct zero, and goto should be close thereafter.
ICH:
thanks for the quick reply.
Should I do the: sync to target (on a bright star after goto) -> go to zero -> set zero before or after star alignment (one, two or three star align?)
Actually I lost the Zero position once after doing a firmware upgrade some weeks ago. I used a long bubble level on the mount head set to 0° and max° right after to find the zero postion and set a new one again.

Set Zero Before star alignment.
Try both One Star and 2/3 star alignment and compare the results, i.e.
1. One Star Alignment, GOTO a Star, record how much it offs; MENU=>Zero Position =>Go to Zero Position;
2. 2/3 star alignment, GOTO the SAME Star, does if off more or less than one star alignment?
